COURAGE AND RENEWAL WEEK

Those of us who choose to work in service industries, whether as: teachers; pastors; doctors; nurses; environmentalists; activists; non-profit managers; or other public leadership - often find ourselves wrestling with the difficulties and complexities of a broken and divided world. We also often feel the challenge of sustaining ourselves and our commitment to our work among this brokenness. We long for the courage to “show up in the world” as our true selves. 

During 11-14 November, Marcy and Rick Jackson will be facilitating a number of events that address this longing. Marcy and Rick are co-founders of The Centre of Courage and Renewal, together with Parker Palmer (www.couragerenewal.org).

You are invited to rediscover your deepest purpose and values, as well as explore the tensions that often exist between what we most wish to be true and the realities of leading, healing, advocating, and teaching within a deeply broken world. Join us as we collectively seek the courage to live undivided in highly divided times. Join us for some, or all the events:

MONDAY, 11 NOVEMBER - LET YOUR LIFE SPEAK

15:00 – 18:00  Facilitated session for anyone who’s interested to reconnect to their identity and integrity and explore how our inner lives enable us to live meaningful lives in a complex, divided society. NGO and Public Sector workers in particularly are invited. R150, 60 spaces available

19:00 - 21:00 LET YOUR LIFE SPEAK PLENARY - Cancelled

TUESDAY, 12 NOVEMBER - THE COURAGE TO TEACH

15:00 – 18:00  Facilitated session for Educators to renew heart, mind and spirit through the exploration of the inner landscape of a teacher’s life. Sessions will be based on the book ''The Courage to Teach'' by Parker Palmer: “Every profession that attracts people for “reasons of the heart” is a profession in which people and the work they do suffer from losing heart. Like teachers, these people are asking, “How can we take heart again so that we can give heart to others?”—which is why they undertook their work in the first place.”  R150, 60 spaces available

WEDNESDAY, 13 NOVEMBER - THE COURAGE TO PASTOR

9:00 – 15:00 Facilitated session by Trevor Hudson and Rick Jackson for Pastors or Christian leaders to renew heart, mind and spirit through the exploration of the inner landscape of a pastor’s life, R300 (including lunch), 30 spaces available
