October month sees our chapter challenging the self-limiting beliefs that we are female (human beings and entrepreneurs!) seem to put in our own way towards greatness and fulfillment in life and business.

@LollyDaskal, CEO of Lead from Within says it beautifully in her article for INC.: 'Break your goal into small steps that you can accomplish one at a time to build your confidence and self-worth as you go. Your new reality can begin to happen once you have a plan with specific goals.Remember, you will never be able to create the right reality if you aren't willing to let the wrong reality go.'

One phenomenal women who did just that is our own Future Females Director, Philippa Dods. An advocate for women empowerment, she is also passionate about using business and technology for social change and is continuously working to achieve gender parity.

Philippa will be sharing how she completely owns her future as a marketing manager at a global media intelligence company, works to increase the number and success of females entrepreneurs around the world and her impact as part of the Global Shapers Community. She embodies #limitless as this year she also completed the Ironman 70.3 which she used to raise over R55 000 for Rape Crisis Cape Town Trust.

And that is just the first half of the session!

Our local 'Start-up Story' will be told by none other than local business women and entrepreneur, Hannelie van der Merwe.

The founder and managing director of Barker and Quin Finest Mixers (made right here in the Winelands!) and co-owner of 'Wijn' based at The Precinct in Paarl, she certainly embraces and owns her future, carving the way for women in an up to now, very male dominated industry. She recently also launched a non-alcoholic spirit (the first of its kind in SA!) which was also crowned the inaugural winner of a brand new category at the annual Michelangelo International Wine and Spirits Awards just last week.

What is Future Females?

About Workshop17

Workshop17 is an exciting hub that exists to accelerate innovation and entrepreneurship for a positive social and economic change. It is now the work place of more than 240 entrepreneurs, innovators and professionals and 80 companies. Corporates, government and civil society use the space daily for meetings, teachings and events. The public drops in for informal work and meetings in the café. The community buzz is felt every day!

Workshop17 Tabakhuis is a historical building in Paarl and forms part of the heritage area. The building was once used as a storage facility for tobacco which led to the naming of the property which we have transformed into a work and meeting place for a community. Tabakhuis is centred around the social workspace within the café environment aimed to encourage idea generation, collaboration and sharing between startups, seasoned professionals, small and large companies, entrepreneurs and freelancers. Tabakhuis offers over 140 hot desks, 16 private offices, 4 semi-private offices, meeting rooms and boardrooms along with a fully equipped seminar room located on the ground floor with easy access to the café.
