~~Springbok Nude Girls~~
Through a series of serendipitous events in the early 90’s in the small wine making town of Stellenbosch, Arno Carstens (www.arnocarstens.com/ www.arnocarstensfineart.com/ ), Theo Crous (https://bellvillestudios.com) Adriaan Brand, Arno Blumer and Francois Kruger became The Springbok Nude Girls: www.nudegirls.co.za
Little did they know that they would go on to become one of the most loved rock bands South Africa has ever seen, known for their high energy stage shows and unique musical sound which combines Rock, Punk, Reggae, Metal, Funk and Jazz.
They played their first gig in September 1994 in a small bar in Stellenbosch and released their first album, “Neanderthal 1” (https://open.spotify.com/album/08RhjyxHlAhW51PZW0itL9) the following year.
Since then, this platinum selling, award winning band have gone on to record albums that contain some of our countries most beloved anthems. They have headlined every major South African music festival, and performed at some of the most auspicious international festivals in Europe.
In 2015, Thinking Owl Films, in association with Sony Music Entertainment Africa, released an exciting documentary film which tells the story of the band’s early beginnings, touching on the crippling censorship of that time, and then the liberation of 1994 and how, for these kids, there was finally freedom in music: https://www.showmax.com/eng/movie/too7vch3-the-springbok-nude-girls
Twenty five years after their first show, and two decades after the release of “Blue Eyes” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG26JatZWr0) the song that redirected the trajectory of the band, SNG released the single “Beautiful Evolution” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlVZvCgdkPA) and its B Side “Best Friends, Best Enemies” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MubTtq5qiO4).
Retro Dizzy is a psychedelic rock band from Cape Town, South Africa.

Six months after forming the band, they recorded their debut album, ‘Youth is like a Loaded Gun’, which was released to much acclaim in the underground scene, with the songs ‘James Dean’ and ‘Blasphemy’ being the high points of the record. They have progressed quickly from the ‘classic ‘ rock genre into a more surf-rock/garage psychedelic sound, which can be heard on their 2nd record, ‘Creatures of the Black Desert’, which was released to much praise in the middle of 2015. The FUSS magazine calling the album, “one of the best Psychedelic albums to ever come out of South Africa”.
In 2016 they released the single, ‘Feel Alright’, and filmed a music video in the Tankwa Karoo desert with Barry de Villiers of Roundabout Films. It debuted on DJ Fresh’s morning show on 5FM and received rave reviews.
In 2017 they released their 3rd full length album, ‘Just Relax’, with the lead single, ‘Come On Baby’, and has received critical acclaim from independent music sites such as The Fuss and Texx and the City as well as getting substantial radio play on student radio throughout Europe and parts of the US. The album has quickly become a favourite in both South Africa and Australia.
They have also had the pleasure of sharing the stage with many different international artists such as, Black Lips, Allah-Las, Oh Sees, Moon Duo, Incubus to mention a few. So you know they not too shit.
They reached number one on TUKS FM’s local chart with their single, ‘My Baby Got Electrocuted’. And Come On Baby, their single, making it to number 2 on the student radio charts. Their most recent single, ‘Seaboat Captain’, has reached no.1 on Mfm and no.2 on PUK FM.
