Christmas might still seem like a long way off, but really it’s just around the corner! This concert will set you in the mood for things to come with gorgeous Christmas standards and light classical music that will soothe the soul. The Lowveld Community Orchestra and two of our local choirs, the Laudate Choir and the Sempre Vino Ensemble, will be joined on stage by several soloists. Conroy Scott is one of the stalwart South African baritones of our age, and regularly performs with orchestras all over the country. In Nelspruit he was most recently seen in the LCMA’s enormously successful production of La Boheme at Innibos. Interestingly enough he also sang Motown in Europe, so expect a fabulous mashup of classical and Motown music from him in this concert!
Other soloists include Gugu Mahlalela (who drew us all to tears as Mother Mary in How Great Thou Art last year), Janette Rottcher who will be playing a Scherzo by Chopin, Jurgens Naude with a well-known Mozart concerto movement on horn, and Anthea du Toit, who will be playing as a soloist with the Sempre Vino Ensemble. As usual we will also have some audience participation, so please come ready with a warm voice, together with your warm hearts!
