ABOUT
The HSFA (Helderberg Society for the Aged) is a Non Profit Organisation that has been looking after the aged in the Helderberg region since 1958.
Join our annual BIG WALK this year to support us! The residents of the HSFA, their families and interested community members and furry friends (on a leash) are all welcome.
This year's BIG WALK theme is CARNIVAL so should you wish, you can dress up in bright colours, masks and feathers to brighten our day! There will be loads of prizes to be won for the best dressed and other categories! All participants will receive a medal as well as a goodie bag.
Registration starts at 6:30 and the walk will start at 8:00. The route is approximately 2.5 km long so not too hectic!
We will have life music, line dancing, drumming; a jumping castle and face-painting for children, and delicious eats and drinks on sale. We also have various craft market stalls with crafter's items on sale. 12 of these crafters are residents selling their own handiwork to augment their income. Also, don't miss out on taking fun photo-booth photos with your family and friends!
The HSFA – the Helderberg Society for the Aged - is based in Somerset West. We have 4 pillars of care: our Frail care facilities, several Assisted Living units, a Home Based care service and several Independent living accommodation units.
We are making the Big Walk our annual fundraising event and our goal this year is to raise R50k. Donation points will be available on the day for anyone wanting to assist us reach our goal, and you can also donate on Quicket at the same time as buying your entry ticket!
It truly is a special sight to see residents of all ages, some over 90 years old, walking to finish the 2.5 km. The participants are motivated to complete the walk, whilst families, carers and staff hold their hand in support and assurance. The joy on their faces when they get the medals on return cannot be described. You need to be there to appreciate and share in their accomplishment. So come with energy, come dressed up in the carnival theme if you like and join us to enjoy this special day!
