About Modern Sound[s] Orchestra

From Seelze in the Hanover region of Germany, MSO is the largest ensemble of the Jugendblasorchester Seelze e. V. (Seelze Youth Wind Orchestra). Currently about 65 highly skilled musicians between the ages of 20 and 65 play in the MSO, which has been conducted by Henning Klingemann since 2008. On their South Africa Tour, MSO will be present with 49 of these 65 orchestra members.

In addition to its own concerts, such as the traditional New Year's concert, the MSO regularly plays at various occasions: these include open-air performances, e.g.

  • In front of the Marienwerder Monastery
  • The Summer Festival of the Parish of St. Joseph in Hanover
  • The 2017 ceremony of the German Social Association
  • The joint concert with the Symphonic Wind Orchestra Wehdel
  • Performances at the opening ceremony of the German Special Olympics in the TUI Arena

The orchestra's tours took them to European countries such as Poland, France and Sweden, as well as to China in 2014 at the invitation of the Shanghai International Culture Association. In October 2019, the MSO is now undertaking their first Concert Tour to South Africa.

The MSO knows how to inspire its audiences again and again at concerts and makes the richness of facets and the sound diversity of symphonic brass music an unforgettable experience. On the one hand, this is certainly due to their joy of playing and the large repertoire of pieces from different musical styles - original compositions for symphonic wind orchestra, paired with pieces from the film, musical and rock & pop fields, as well as swing and jazz classics and transcriptions of classical works are regularly on the programme. On the other hand, the musical quality of the orchestra speaks for itself. This was again confirmed at the Lower Saxony Orchestra Competition 2015 where MSO won in its category, received the title "Participated with outstanding success" and also won the special prize "Interpretation of contemporary music". The CD productions to date also testify to the high quality of the ensemble.
