Want to design your AfrikaBurn outfit yourself?
Come to this workshop if you are a Burner who wants to design your own unique garment.
The 3-part experimental design workshop is intended for first time makers that will learn how to create a technical drawing and transform their design into an actual avant-guard outfit using a block pattern.
This is for you if you wish to create a garment that is unique and if you are willing to learn experiential garment construction.
You may also join to design outfits for a group based on a theme. A minimum of ten attendees is required for the workshop to proceed.
The three workshops happen from 10h00 to 16h00 on:

Who are the facilitator?
- Sikelela Kwatsha, an aspiring fashion designer and dancer who started an NPO called Ubuntu Trends. A township lead youth movement that uses avant garde fashion to inspire disadvantaged community members to use fashion as a tool to build their confidence and to ignite a sense of freedom and liberate people by what they wear.
- Zaid Philander is a social activist, teacher and entrepreneur. He is a self trained designer after the of 7 where he learnt to use a crutch and a hose pipe in order to sew items due to him being too short to reach the pedal of an industrial sewing machine. He designs bags made from upcycled materials whilst empowering physically disabled residents from disadvantaged communities in Cape Town. Giving them the opportunity to create: "I Screm & Red products within their homes, this model enables people to cascade the learning thus empowering other members of their communities to start businesses of their own. He is a passionate social and environmental activist who manages a NPO that teaches art therapy whilst running a successful eco-friendly social enterprise.
