We cordially invite you to the compelling exhibition of the volksmoeder.  Ordentlik is a contemporary experimental South African theatre play transposed to a 1994 farm kitchen. Liesel van Tonder represents the volksmoeder in a decaying cycle of ordentlikheid. The key to Liesel's success is cleaning! Cleaning her kitchen, cleaning herself, and praying to keep her conscience clean. The tragic exhibition demands a brutal deconstruction of Liesel as a colonial figure stuck in a post-apartheid era. In 2019 the woman figure in South Africa has come far. However, the birth of a new volksmoeder is among us. Ordentlik or not, come enjoy the exhibition with us!
