The Other Events presents TURBOJAZZ, a frontrunner in Italy's exciting second wave of electronic music and Milano's best kept secret. Expect a night full of high energy house and funky techno as we mark the start of his SA tour, made possible in part by The Other Events.

Turbojazz (ITA) [Jaxx Madicine]

Turbojazz (also half of the "Jaxx Madicine" trio) started DJing and producing music in the early 2000s inspired by hip hop and black music culture, from dancefloor jazz to rare funk and disco – all things soulful and deep. His journey through black history's iconic artists led to the birth of “Unbreakable”, his debut EP released on Local Talk. It included the hit “Please U” feat. David Blank (with a remix by EVM128) and the acclaimed "Unicorn Rising”, played out by the likes of Laurent Garnier, Volcov, DJ Deep, Luke Solomon, Lefto, Ashley Beedle, Shur-i-Kan and Llorca. Tommy has since regularly released on Defected, Gamm, CT-HI, BBE, and Local Talk.

Through the years, Turbojazz has delighted club and festival crowds across the globe with his unique sound; from NY's Submercer, Sifò Club in Barcelona, Roxy, Vienna to Elita Festival (Milan) and Soundwave Festival (Croatia) to name a few and has worked with artists like Nicolas Jaar, Moodymann, Afrika Bambaata, Kode9 and many others. He was also chosen among the 16 participants of the prestigious Red Bull Academy Bass Camp Rome which gave him a chance to work with some of the most interesting artists in the Italian music scene. Though his plate may seem quite full, Turbojazz keeps on bringing new and captivating sounds through his well loved programme on the online radio station, Radio Raheem.

Loud on the outskirts of the norm, The Other DJs consists of three of Cape Town's busiest music boys. Why so busy? They dedicate themselves to connecting people to music — vinyl at The Other Records, airwaves on The Other Radio, movement in The Other Events, grafting with The Other Works and praise with hands lifted high when they don their suits as The Other DJs. Discerning selectors alone but a flexible trio together, they believe diversity is key. From soft sets to hard sets and attitudes mild to wild, they'll provide the sweet milk to soothe a bad trip: the best of the rest in peace on Earth, for all of mankind, music. They're the residents and hands-on believers at SWIM, Cape Town's shapeshifting no-holds-barred dance party of many years (currently occupied at The Waiting Room) where they ensure a dedicated success to the headliners. Otherwise you can see them at many a club or festival in, around and away from South Africa. They wear suits to make a good first impression. "We're all connected."

The Other Events is the team behind SWIM (Cape Town's monthly no-holds-barred dance event at The Waiting Room) and Search Festival, a mythical New Year's gathering. They're also responsible for bringing French DJ don Teki Latex to Modular and form part of Hypnic State, a dreamy sleepover audiovisual happening. They're technically also The Other DJs, which explains why you'd see them as the residents for their events.
