Nalu:

Nalu means ‘one with the waves’. Nalu is she who flows freely, who comes across life’s challenges and either crashes through them or meanders around them – depending on the magnitude of energy that fuels her. Nalu is a producer (under the producer alias, Luvdust), singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist. A feeler, listener and a lover. She uses R’nB, soul, acoustic and lofi sounds to explore themes of womxnhood, sexuality, and love. At the heart of it all, Nalu wishes to tell stories in their most organic form. Inspired by many powerful womxn of colour, Nalu follows suit in her music by using it to express and liberate others, but most importantly, herself. Her music is bred by her spirituality and materialises through 7th chord progressions, falsetto interludes, 4-part harmonies and spoken-word verses.

HANNA

Rapper, singer and producer Hanna was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe. Her introduction to rap music had her obsessed with memorizing and reciting complex lyrics. After being deeply moved by the lyrical content of J. Cole, she began her own writing at the age of 16. In 2017, she joined the UCT Hip-Hop society which allowed her to recite her pieces in front of an audience. Following her introduction to her role model, Kehlani, she developed a passion for singing. This prompted her to start posting song covers and rap videos on Instagram. In February 2018 she posted a video to her Instagram and Twitter which went viral across platforms and pages, gaining a total of 120,000+ views and nods from the likes of Nasty C and DJ Clock. The video jumpstarted Hanna's online presence which grew her fan base. Since then, Hanna has released three singles, "Gimme" - her debut single - "Alive" and "Peace" - which was released alongside it's music video under the emPawa Africa initiative. In June 2019, Hanna was selected as one of 11 artists for the Lift As You Rise campaign by Red Bull and Tall Racks Records. Her and the other winners spent a week at the Cape Town Red Bull Studios with Nasty C, Tellaman, Rowlene, Gemini Major, Lastee and Zino D to record and finish their Lift As You Rise tracks. Since then, Hanna has gained thousands of new followers and listeners as well a global audience which she hopes to grow.
