Our chef

Master Chef Lapo Magni from Lapo's Kitchen, former winner of the Italian version of Masterchef, has made quite a name for himself in the Cape Town food scene. Last year, together with The Climate Diet he revamped the iconic lamb bunny chow in a climate friendly version in the middle of the dried up Theewaterskloof Dam. Now we are back with a Series of Climate Dinners. In March, we kicked off with 'Forests', followed by 'Oceans'.

For our third Climate Dinner Series | Soil, Lapo will combine his passion for food and sustainability in order to create a beautiful 3-Course Soil-Friendly Menu. This magic will take place in his beautiful new venue in Newlands.

Why Soil?

Soil is an important resource for everything from human health to food production to water sanitation. However, over the past years soil erosion has increased and is turned into an environmental problem confronting land and water resources in South Africa. Although erosion is a natural proces it's accelerated by the following human activities:

  • Desertification because of climate change
  • Overgrazing because of too many animals
  • Removal of trees for agriculture, housing or other needs
  • Poor water management

Soil is the foundation of basic ecosystem function. it filters our water, provides essential nutrients to our forests and crops, and helps regulate the Earth's temperature. Let’s unite ourselves and take better care of our soil! What can we personally do to achieve this? We'll will inspire you through:

  • Inspiring Speakers
  • Eye Opening Open Air Cinema
  • Delicious Soil-Friendly Food
