ABOUT

Spending too much on plants?

Join us as we explore how to set up a low cost home nursery and how to easily propagate plants for your garden, all using a permaculture framework. Our aim is to inspire the mass propagation of plants anywhere and everywhere, to meet the rising demand for edible and ecologically appropriate plants, and to demonstrate the regenerative possibilities of plant propagation: socially, ecologically and economically. Whether you have a balcony, a window sill, or a massive back yard, anyone can start a small scale nursery and tap into the abundance of plant propagation.

We'll be covering:

  • Basic nursery design
  • Soil mixes
  • Seed sowing
  • Root cuttings
  • Plant splitting
  • Air and ground layering, and
  • Grafting, (demo)

This is a participatory workshop where participants will get hands on with the above.

Cost per person is R280.

In the spirit of transparency, please see this link for a breakdown of our estimated costs.

This workshop will only go ahead if there are 14 confirmed paying participants, so please share with those you feel may benefit. This is to ensure we cover our costs, keep the workshop fee low and make this education accessible. Should we not reach the 14 humans target, your ticket will be fully refunded. Tickets are non-refundable otherwise.

Confirmation that we've reached this target and this workshop will go ahead will be announced on Monday 12 August 2019.

There are reduced cost ticket options for pensioners and low and no income earners. Send us a motivational message to apply. Only a limited number of these tickets available per workshop, so applicants will be vetted.

What to bring:

  • Snacks and a dish to share for a communal lunch. In the spirit of compassionate sharing, please ensure what you bring to share is kosher / halaal / vegetarian, and no stress if you're unable to bring anything, there should be plenty to go round.
  • Your own dishware and utensils
  • Sun hat / rain coat
  • A pair of scissors / secateurs (if you have)
  • An open mind and your inner genius

See you then :).

Participants attend this workshop at their own risk. Guerilla House will not be held responsible for any theft, injury, loss or damage which may arise. However, in such an unlikely event we will assist you as best we can.
