Episode 6: Balancing Acts - Perinatal Hormonal and Pelvic Floor Health

Understanding how our pelvic floor and hormones affect our overall health during this season of mothering is as important as getting to grips with our mental health- where often pelvic floor difficulties and hormonal imbalance can greatly impact the latter.

Our two speakers for this one are evangelical about what they do in these respective fields- Nicola Rabkin of Hormonal Harmony and Denise of Core Restore.

Since the launch of the New Normal Episodes, the main aim has been to create a space for informed sharing of what a women experiences during her transition to matrescence- on a physical, mental, emotional and psychological level. It has been a passion of Genevieve Putter, founder of the New Normal to provide a space for women to come together in the company of experts in their field to shed light on topics that arent necessarily widely spoken about during this pivotal time of a women's life.

From the moment we are pregnant we are bombarded with so much info on how to take care of our unborn child from what products are best, what classes, courses or books will best serve us when it comes to parenting, but not much on how to look after ourselves and our changing bodies and minds.

We're excited to bring you a talk focused on our ladybits and the juices that keep them healthy! How well do we know what goes on down there and what our hormones are telling us through subtle cues such as skin breakouts, trouble with sleep, adrenal fatigue and all those things.

Our speakers will be covering subjects like why looking after these bits from a more holistic perspective will set us up for long term health, to a certain amount of myth busting (how often have you been told to do your kegels everyday yet this is only just one form of movement to keep your pelvic floor healthy, or that if you have polycystic ovaries you should go on the contraceptive pill to 'keep it in check').

Keeping in mind that every woman is different, Nicola and Denise will be covering some basic tips/tools on how to keep your hormones in check and your pelvic floor and core in good nick throughout our seasons as mothers - so from pregnancy to peri-menopause, and why this matters. From breathing techniques through to basic nutritional guidelines and everything in between, come and get schooled Mammas!
