ABOUT
TEDxJohannesburgWomen 2019: Bold+Brilliant
This is the year for women all over the world to be bold and brilliant — without apology. At TEDxJohannesburgWomen 2019, we’re shining a spotlight on dazzling ideas from some of Johannesburg's (and South Africa's) most extraordinary risk-takers and innovators. Celebrating pioneers making power moves, brilliant people who are just getting started, and those who tirelessly show up as allies and advocates, TEDxJohannesburgWomen 2019 will be no less than a joyful, thought-provoking celebration of smarts, savvy and diverse dynamism. This special event, our first for women since 2013, is an occasion for inspiration, and for recognising the incredible work championed by women and girls in all fields. Everyone – not just women – is welcome to gather in celebration of moving forward, boldly and brilliantly, while sharing the work of shaping our future.
Speakers
The TEDxJohannesburg team has been hard at work shaping a speaker lineup that promises to enthral and engage. Expect women from all spheres — feminists, LGBTQIs, artists, mothers, businesswomen, entrepreneurs, activists, writers, technologists, youth, and more. They will share learnings and insights, ask difficult questions, and challenge assumptions. We hope to spread their ideas far and wide.
Audience
The TEDxJohannesburg community is an assortment of curious, open-minded, diverse thinkers and doers who seek knowledge, understanding, and belonging. They come to TEDxJohannesburg to learn and share in the ideas that matter to them, so that they can expand and act on their own sense of possibility and wonder. Amongst them are executives from blue chip companies, entrepreneurs, policymakers, creatives, academics, diplomats, students, and more.
Venue
The first thing that greets you as you enter our venue, WeWork Rosebank—before the fresh smell of coffee, the overhead sound of music, or the uber hip decor—is the setting. Conveniently situated in the heart of the Rosebank shopping precinct, within touching distance from the Gautrain station, high above the hustle and bustle of traffic, this co-working space is famously optimised for comfort, creativity, and community. What’s more, to make it easy for you, we’ve ensured that the event itself begins just after the morning rush, and ends just before the afternoon dash.
PROGRAMME
Two riveting speaker sessions fill the day, in the comfort of mid-century style decor, at the stunning, brand new WeWork Rosebank – punctuated with an engaging, productive, working lunch. End the day with a convivial networking cocktail, to be enjoyed with a breathtaking panorama of Johannesburg in full view.
