Join us on Thursday the 8th of August for a very special show featuring two of Cape Town's finest singer/songwriters in Mae Sithole and Chantel Van T
Mae's music can best be described as a fusion of contemporary jazz, soul, funk, reggae and African music, whilst Chantel's sound leans more towards alternative folk, combing elements of country, folk and blues.
Doors open at 6:30pm and the show will start at 8pm!
Tickets are R150pp online and R170pp at the door. We know everyone always says this, but space is limited, so book early to avoid disappointment :-)
There will be soup and gluhwein for sale on the evening, for the rest, please bring own drinks and snacks (think picnic basket)
A little more about the artists!
Mae Sithole and her band believe music has the power to bring people of all cultures together. In May 2018, the Mae Sithole Band performed at the Harare International Festival of the Arts. Mae Sithole was named among Cape Town’s Top 5 Innovative Female Musicians by Of Africa Magazine and has been featured by BBC Radio 4 and CNN Africa.The Mae Sithole Band was also awarded the Concerts SA Mobility Fund in 2018. Mae is a passionate advocate for women's rights and leadership, youth inclusivity, and communicating powerful messages of hope through music, poetry, and other art forms. She incorporates her songwriting and performance in African leadership development programmes; policy meetings; and has performed in the presence of inspirational women including Prof Thuli Madonsela, Prof Mamokgethi Phakeng, and the African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Mrs Minata Samate Cessouma. She is passionate about using music to trigger change and unite people of different cultures, languages, and political persuasions under the banners of love and humanity.
Chantel Van T is a singer/songwriter, who after being in two indie bands decided to branch out into a solo career as well, using this as a way to create music that came from a very true and personal space, thus along with her acoustic guitar and self written melodies she writes from a place very close to heart.
