ABOUT

Yes! Rejoice! We are back at Venue D'Aria for a special Women's day themed Paint & Sip where we look forward to uncorking our inner artists for a great cause while celebrating the incredible Women!
This Women's day we are featuring the extremely talented Kim Mobey, a South African portrait artist. activist, sculptor and story teller. Kim will be guiding guests step by step to unleash their inner artists, all while enjoying four delicious canapé style bowl meals prepared by Venue D'Aria’s award-winning chefs, and of course, sipping on a glass of wine.
All proceeds raised help Call 2 Care (NPO) uplift communities in need and will be going to a sustainable, educational project that looks to empower the incredible women (and grannies) through The iGardi Project. Your participation in this unique and fun event will help us make an incredible impact on this project.
Our events include a state of the art speaker system and video projector on a large screen so you will never miss out.

FEATURING KIM MOBEY
Kim Mobey is a South African portrait artist. activist, sculptor and story teller. Born in Cape Town in 1980 and working across multiple disciplines and media, her paintings, printmaking, installations and sculptures focus on humanity in the African context and she seeks out stories of global diaspora, history and leadership as well as contemporary African cultural and political cross-pollination. She actively subverts concepts of aesthetics, gender, race, age and class as ideologies by disrupting the traditional demographics and context of her subjects.
Her work utilises traditional media and materials as well as experimental applications of new materials, techniques and mixed media including collage, calcite printing, sculpture, performance, installation and sustainable architecture. She develops all her works with an emphasis on permanence, history and creating meaning – balancing contemporary relevance with being of real value to the current and future generations.
Though she views herself as an "outsider artist" she is a dedicated autodidact and educator. She actively studies and teaches new and traditional technical skills, art history, languages, sculpture, installation, performance, painting and printmaking through events, digital media, collaborations and providing paid art internships.
