Happy Hippo is well known for being a back packers but for the last year and a few months it's rooftop has been used as a comedy venue, managed by Cyril Basker who is a comedian and who has shared the stage with many comedians such like Carvin Goldstone, Robby Collins, Tats Nkonzo, Khanyiso Bunu, Neil Green and many more. Happy Hippo is a rooftop venue one of its first in Durbans Comedy where comedy happens every Thursday and every week is a new line up of comedians ranging from Durban, South Africa and even International. It'sa beautiful venue with a garden area where you can relax and chill with friends and family after the show. Happy Hippo is Durbans only weekly Comedy Club after the Winston Closed its doors to its weekly Wednesday Show. Cyril Basker has been running it every week on a Thursday and its has between 20 to 80 people attendance on average.

Comedy Club just opened in the Ushaka Marine World Region, being open for more than a year. Every Thursday it has comedy nights with hilariously funny comic from Durban and around South Africa and Internationally.
