ABOUT
Jon MacGillivray, an expert in foraging and identifying all types of mushroom species is in Pretoria on Sunday the 9th of June to present a talk and a foraging walk at the Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve.
The talk will be about understanding the environment of -and identifying- psilocybin containing species in the wild, and will include topics like the various genera and species that occur here; psilocybin and other alkaloids found in species; as well as the species that could potentially occur here. After the talk he will guide us on a walk through the reserve to introduce to us the techniques of finding and foraging mushrooms.
Jon is the president of the KZN Mycological Society and a trusted identifier in South Africa and is responsible for maintaining the list of local psilocybin species. He is also involved in DNA sequencing projects and has discovered many new South African mushroom species of all kinds.
This is an excellent opportunity for enthusiasts to learn about foraging and identification, so come join us at this beautiful venue this coming Sunday!
NOTE: No refreshments will be for sale at the venue. Please bring your own cool drinks or coffee. No alcoholic drinks will be allowed.
