A light-hearted, informal and fun introduction; tailored for beginners and novices, run on the basis of a demonstration/participation workshop.

An immersive and enriching experience. A brief and basic history of clay work through the ages including the work and philosophy of some current studio potters.

*Introduction to the studio and how it functions.

*Handwork techniques which will include clay preparation, pinch pots and coil pots.

*Demonstration on the potter’s wheel and some discussion.

*An opportunity for those who wish, to try the wheel under the instruction and guidance of an experienced potter with many years’ experience.

*Some time spent on finishing and a discussion on glazing and firing.
