ABOUT

Home Automation refers to the automation of regular or tedious tasks in the home. It has the potential to enhance your experience in and around your home by making routines more efficient and safer. It is a sub-class of Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Until recently, Home Automation had been fairly complex and expensive. But, with new technologies, it is now far more accessible.

This 5 day workshop is aimed at children aged 13 to 18 years old. It provides an introduction to home automation and the Internet of Things, using the Arduino and Sonoff platforms.

The workshop runs from 14:30 to 16:30, daily from 9 December to 13 December.

The course includes an optional Sonoff kit that participants will be able to use and expand upon in their own homes.

Topics covered in the course include (but are not limited to):

  • An Introduction to Electronics
  • Key Concepts in IoT
  • Exploring the various IoT Platforms
  • Incorporating Google Assistant and Amazon Echo
  • Practical Home Automation using Sonoff
  • Advanced Home Automation using Arduino.

At the end of this course, kids will be well on their way to being able to turn their own homes into Smart Homes!

The workshop is driven by our philosophy of "Learn by Doing" and promises to be a fun and exciting introduction to Home Automation and IoT!
