Raising Ancestors EP Launch

Heads up. You don't miss this event. You'll know why if you were present in January 2017, when Xee & Codekid tripped us out and laid down the law that one hot, mystifying SWIM. It's time to build on that.

The reason we will gather here. The inauguration of Raising Ancestors, the latest vinyl EP being released on Portable's own label, Khoi Khoi. Sound Of Xee and Codekidlife – both on the release – are coming down to Cape Town to team up with The Other Events for a big mood celebratory tag-team with best in the game.

Some word on the EP:

"For its second release, Khoi Khoi focuses on the flag bearers of underground electronic music in South Africa; each of its four artists draw from the myriad of vibrant styles happening on local soil, in-part due to the tremendous work they put in."

"Xee & Codekid, representing the EP at the launch, illustrate themselves here with a polyrhythmic tune, evolving crescendos and a haunting melody that lingers. Fred Buddha provides a reflective mood based on a house loop with an additional layer of synths and rhythm that appears and disappears progressively. Bodycode delivers his own particular take on Gqom, the South African sound of the moment. It’s a deep and powerful tribal track punctuated with a deep bass and inquisitive synths which refines the dancefloor approach of this moniker. t.Siza closes the EP with jams on a jazzy and warm universe, putting forward percussive elements, acidic after-tones and a solar synth."
