GOOD TO KNOW

Wolfkop Weekender started as an intimate gathering and music event, and managed to remain a best-kept secret; hidden by the valley itself and the locals of Citrusdal for close-on five years. In January 2014, this jewel of a venue and its penchant for a well-seasoned celebration and rolling bassline were revealed to a new group of unassuming revelers, who’d come to the valley under the guise of experiencing, ‘a different kind of weekend away’.

Lilo River Flow took place over a weekend bearing the brilliant brunt of the mid-Summer heat; making for water-based days, that saw 100 or so floatation devices take to the river and indulge the senses in a crystal-clear, back-to-nature experience. A quality and understated soundtrack floated on a breath of wind by day, took you into a cool evening doused with the adventurous energy of a campout and moved you deep into the night.

Wolfkop Weekender : Lilo River Flow returns with a 48 hour frolic on the banks and in the refreshing current of the Olifant's Rivier in the Citrusdal Valley. Reset, recharge and put an incredible new year into motion from the 23rd - 25th January at the lush Wolfkop Nature Reserve venue in Citrusdal.

Join us for an experience that is part weekend-away, part music festival and all kinds of incredible. Wolfkop presents a unique atmosphere, organic vibe and deep beats of a different kind: Eclectic and downtempo dubs will ease you by day and live throbbing electronica will tease you by night. Bring your floatila devices and your favourite friends, this weekender is jam-packed and brimming with good times.

Wolfkop Weekender is an official satellite event of the Cape Town Electronic Music Festival (CTEMF) and we're excited to announce this affiliation as we welcome our first international guests to our boutique music stage.

GOOD TO KNOW:
  • Music starts on Friday at 4pm and ends on Sunday at 5pm. The soundsystem kicks off at 10am on Saturday and Sunday mornings. We encourage you to make the most of the weekender by coming for the first warm beats and staying until the very last drop.
  • Food Trucks and stalls will feed your soul all weekender with food that is slow-cooked, filled with goodness and made with love. On Sunday a lamb spit braai lunch will be available for those who need a hot lamb roll to fill you up for the afternoon session.
  • We'd like to keep your cup over-flowing on the Olifant's River with our fully stocked bar. On special all weekender: Pimms and lemonade punch, craft beer on tap and frozen fruit smoothies.
  • Our resident yogini, Lara Roux will host a guided yoga class at 9am on Saturday & Sunday morning by the river – rise and shine and follow with a refreshing dip to start your day.
  • As always, hot showers will be available all weekend, we have numerous ablution block facilities throughout the camping areas.
  • There will be an inflatable stall and pump station for all your lilo floatila needs, but worth mentioning – don't forget to bring your floatation device and pump!
  • Things you may find useful to bring: A headlamp or torch for night-vision afterdark, a swimming and shower towel, a hat, sunscreen, a re-fillable juice and water bottle, a warm jacket for at night and a bag of smiles – you'll use them all!

IMPORTANT NOTICES:
  • Wolfkop Weekender is a Leave-No-Trace Event. We endeavour to keep our stretch of pristine river bank in the condition we found it. You'll find lots of recycling and rubbish bins placed around the venue and invite you to keep our beautiful venue MOOP-free. We encourage everyone to bring a re-fillable receptacle of sorts to contain your choice of tipple – let's keep things clean and green. :) The water in the valley is drinkable and delicious so leave bottled water on the shelves, where it belongs.
  • There's plenty of accommodation in and around Citrusdal for those not keen on camping or if you missed the tent village accommodation sale and want a fuss free sleeping arrangement. Wolfkop Free-spirited Traveller Accommodation Group has various cottages available within 10km of the venue and Elephant Leisure Resort  is a further drive but has an abundance of cottages for groups of various sizes.
  • Please Note: While Wolfkop Nature Reserve is a family venue all year round, on Wolfkop Weekender we do not permit children into the camping grounds. Due to the nature of the fast-flowing river that runs alongside the festival space, and the variable proximity between child and parent at all times, we cannot run the risk of negligence on the property. Adults from 21 years and over are permitted. We thank you for understanding.

THE VENUE

ABOUT WOLFKOP
Wolfkop Nature Reserve is nestled in the Olifants River Valley in Citrusdal and takes it’s name from the nickname the first local farmers gave the shapely mountain that backs the riverbank of the reserve. While the only thing you’ll find howling at the moon are happy campers, the land is abundant with wildlife and it’s not uncommon to hear a troop of baboons echoing through the range.

The reserve has a variety of accommodation options available, including remote cottages, wood cabins, and tent and caravan villages, perfect for travellers passing through slowly and families and groups of friends alike, looking for a quick getaway or weekend retreat. The venue never sways from reminding your free spirit, that this is a great outdoor destination.

The heart of Wolfkop’s offering is a quest to provide a truly off-grid experience, to allow one to reconnect with themselves and nature. To appreciate the sweet sounds, fresh earthly aromas, blue skies, soft breezes, crystal clear water, and rolling, lush green fields; all in a moment that is not connected to time or destiny.

Free-spirited travellers, this is your next stop.
