Rootspring Proudly Presents: Deep South

Live at the Rootspring House

Rootspring are honoured to be hosting an event for what is likely to be the last time the incredible duo, Deep South, play together.

Deep South is comprised of two legendary and extremely skilled Cape Town based musicians: guitarist Dave Ledbetter and percussionist Ronan Skillen, form a brilliant world music collaboration that incorporates sounds from across the globe. 

These guys merge musical influences from the east, west, north and particularly the south to create a skilfully crafted acoustic style, with colourful grooves and exquisite melodies

Their debut album “A Waiting Land”, released in 2013, featured some of SA's top musicians and in November 2014 Dave and Ronan flew to Bern , Switzerland to record their second album Heartland. The album was recorded and mastered by ECM recording artiste Bjorn Meyer and features his remarkable Bass playing.

Released in 2015 this S.A.M.A nominated album won an Akademia music award for best instrumental album in 2016.

If you love great quality music then this rare performance is definitely not to be missed.
