SEXUALITY + TRAUMA TRAINING MORNING

Tue May 21, 09:00 - Tue May 21, 11:00

Olivegroove Guesthouse

ABOUT

Children who grow up in poverty and deprivation, who are neglected, who witness domestic violence and substance abuse or who have learning problems are at increased risk of abusing other children, displaying inappropriate sexual behaviour or being labelled as the "naughty" children.

Childline South Arica estimates that 43% of all cases of sexual assault reported to them have been committed by other children under the age of 18. In South Africa our boys are more likely to be sexually abused than our girls.

This workshops will equip and educate you around sexual behaviour in children and practical ways in which we can address traumatised children.

WHAT IT ENTAILS:

  • The effects of trauma on a child's brain development.
  • How to manage difficult behaviours and BIG feelings.
  • The prevalence of inappropriate sexual behaviours.
  • Practical ways in which we can start conversations with children on sexuality.
  • The ways we, as parents, can handle the tough questions and talk about the topics our children face daily.

Facilitated by Simone Oberholzer from Jeallybeanz

The event starts at 09:00 and registration opens at 08:30

The training includes refreshments.
