Our chef
Master Chef Lapo Magni from Lapo's Kitchen, former winner of the Italian version of Masterchef, has made quite a name for himself in the Cape Town food scene. Last year, together with The Climate Diet he revamped the iconic lamb bunny chow in a climate friendly version in the middle of the dried up Theewaterskloof Dam. Now we are back with a series of Climate Dinners. In March, we kicked off with a sold-out dinner themed: Forests.
For the second Climate Dinner Series | Oceans, Lapo will combine his passion for food and sustainability in order to create a beautiful 3-Course Oceans-Friendly Menu. This magic will take place in his beautiful new venue in Newlands.
Why Oceans?
Over 50% of the world’s oxygen is produced by the ocean. While being this important to the planet, it faces many challenges.
- One of them being the millions pieces of plastic killing marine animals on a daily basis and eventually ending up in our own stomachs.
- This plastic, the increasing level of CO2, the rising sea level and other causes are damaging our beautiful coral reefs, which provide shelter for nearly one quarter of all marine species.
- Furthermore, there has been a considerable reduction in the populations of some species of fish because of over-exploitation.
Our planet may be separated by continents, but it is united by the oceans. Let’s unite ourselves and safe the ocean! What can we personally do to overcome these problems? This dinner will inspire you through:
