ABOUT
Rootspring are excited to announce.....Vilcabamba!
Vilcabamba is a group of 6 musicians who perform South American traditional music on authentic instruments. These include the charango which is an armadillo backed mandolin type instrument, the bimbo drum, the Kena notch flute and Zampoña pan pipes. These instruments are joined by two violins and a viola. The group performed in the 1970's at the Free People's Concerts, and in the 1980's at Oude Libertas, and the Kirstenbosch summer concerts. This is very much a revival of a great many beautiful and ancient melodies including the very famous Condor Pasa in the original flute version.
Juan, Lorette his wife, Pedro and Denis form the core of the group.
