The Event

Slide guitar, harmonica, African blues guitar stylings and soul vocals all feature in the fresh roots sound of Robin Auld. Well known to SA audiences from hits like "All of Woman" and "Baby you been good",  his music over the years has evolved from the poprock sound of his early recordings to the contemporary mix of blues and roots that makes his sound today. He has released over twenty albums, the last decade's output being through his own label "Shoreline Songs". Based in Cape Town, he has performed and recorded in New York, London, California, Glasgow and Nashville. Born in Lusaka, Zambia to Scots parents, Robin's childhood was spent alternating between Southern Africa and Scotland; a journey reflected in the African and Celtic influences in his music. He learned to play the guitar by listening to Hendrix, Ry Cooder and Neil Young, also absorbing influences from the various guitarists of Southern Africa.  He tours nationally in South Africa regularly, playing with an electric trio, and does solo acoustic shows with a loop pedal plus stompboard. His set includes a mixture of his songs both old and new, along with interpretations of songs by other classic artists such as Hendrix and Dylan. A show designed to uplift and enthuse!

"Sunkissed and generous of melody" Whisperin'and hollerin' Ireland.

A genuine and unaffected flowing together of cultural strands. And unlike a lot of singer/songwriters you can, hell you should, play this loud. " Unpeeled UK.
