Rocklands Rally 2021
Join us under the Cederberg skies this June to boulder your skin off at the inaugural Rocklands Rally!
Hosted by the one and only De Pakhuys – home of the jol – this is going to be a stunning weekend of climbing and community, whether you've been wrestling orange pebbles for years or you're yet to step foot on Rocklands soil.
The event will kick off in the De Pakhuys camping field and stretches to all established bouldering areas in Rocklands.
We will gather in the field at 8am on Saturday, 19 June, with the competition gun sounding at 8:30. Participants will have until 17:00 to climb as many boulders as possible, before returning to camp for a lekker (socially-distanced) partytjie. We recommend that you travel through to Rocklands on Friday to get a nice fresh start on Saturday morning.
Event entry is R80; this covers your access to the Rally and a FREE Cape Nature weekend climbing permit.
A portion of this will be donated to the Rocklands Association for Development (RAD), an outreach programme that works to care for and uplift the local community with a number of environmental and social projects.
There are two ticket options to choose from:
- Your basic R80 entry ticket which covers Rally access and your Cape Nature permit. You will also receive a discount code that can be used to get 21% OFF any chalets or cabins booked via De Pakhuys’ online system.
- Grab yourself a package deal with R230 for Rally acces, your Cape Nature permit and 2 nights of discounted camping at De Pakhuys.
How will it work?
Competitors will have from 8:30 to 17:00 on Saturday, 19 June to climb as many boulder problems as possible. You will log your sends and attempts on an online scorecard that has been configured with a weighting system so that climbers of all levels have a chance to win some exciting prizes. Extra points will be awarded to certain classic climbs.
Scorecards must be submitted before 17:00, and there will be a prize-giving at 19:00 on Saturday night.
Is that it?
Of course not! We’re making this a weekend to remember by bringing the community together.
Viper Slacklines will be joining us with various lines set up around the campsite and a FREE slackline workshop on Sunday the 20th. On top of that, RAD we will be pulling in to cook up some of their famous roosterkoek – get fed up and support a fantastic cause. And, so that you can carry the psych home with you, grab yourself a cosy Rocklands Rally baseball tee when you book your ticket (shirt sales close 21 May).
Get training, get psyched, and we’ll see you out there!
