ABOUT

On the outskirts of our concrete jungle, caracal have carved out a space for themselves. Also known as ‘rooikat’, caracal are the top predators in the Cape Peninsula yet they face multiple threats. How are these wild cats adapting to city life?

Join us for a presentation where Dr Laurel Serieys, project coordinator of the Urban Caracal Project, and PHD student Gabi Leighton will shed light on Cape Town’s shy but charismatic cats. They will share findings from their research into caracal behaviour, discuss the factors that are threatening their long-term persistence and reveal the cats’ amazing resilience in the face of rapid urbanization.?

Cape Union Mart and Wild have partnered to bring you talks on the great outdoors and conservation issues. Talks include refreshments and discounted shopping at Cape Union Mart.
