ABOUT

The Competent Gardener is an introduction course for

Gardeners and Garden Enthusiasts.

  1. The course focuses on basic horticultural practice
  2. The course is in 5 modules and will run every alternative Wednesday
  3. The course is designed to give gardeners a firm understanding of plants, gardens and garden maintenance and the course material is all illustrated to make it understandable and accessible even if the course participant does not speak English as their first language.


  • WEDNESDAY 27 March 2019 – Module 1
  • WEDNESDAY 10 April 2019 – Module 2
  • WEDNESDAY 24 April 2019 – Module 3
  • WEDNESDAY 8 May 2019 – Module 4
  • WEDNESDAY 22 May 2019 – Module 5 - Revision and Test


Course fee:  R 2500 includes light refreshments


Training will take place in the Mornings

9 am till 12 pm


The breakdown of the lesson is as follows:


  • Theory - 1.5 hours
  • Break - 15 min
  • Practical - 1.5 hours
  • Break - 15 min
  • Review - 30 min
