DUSTY FEET Holiday Programme - Hermanus, March '19

ABOUT

Dusty Feet, together with Bartleman Surf School, offer children 10 and older the opportunity to get adventurous this March school holiday.

With two options available every day, Monday - Friday, your children need not be bored this holiday.

Sign-up needs to take place in advance as spaces are limited.

Please see below for the short descriptions for each adventure.

Fernkloof Hikes - Join us on some nice hikes in the Fernkloof Nature Reserve. Besides hiking, your guides will also be able to inform you about the local plants, bird and animal life you see along the way. Our routes are mostly moderately challenging and should not be a problem for most adventurers, with the exception of the Three Dams route, which is longer (3 hours) and more challenging - children will require decent balance and sure footing for this one! Pack a bag, snack and a water bottle and come and join us!

Wave Warriors - Get comfortable in the surf by learning the basics of body boarding, surfing and body surfing (using a hand plane) with Dusty Feet and Bartleman Surf School. Adventurers will have the opportunity to do all three disciplines and are guaranteed to enjoy their time in the surf. All boards and equipment included (own wetsuits encouraged, but wetsuits are available). 

Tidal Pool Snorkeling - Based at the Marine Pool, Hermanus, we will explore the underwater world that this amazingly diverse pool has to offer. Sessions are timed to the tide for maximum visibility. We won't just swim around - Dusty Feet will ensure kids see some animals and more up close and will tell them all they know about life in this pool and the inter-tidal zones of our coast. 

Learn to Surf - Learn to surf with Bartleman Surf School. These sessions are focused on stand-up surfing, using specialised equipment and experienced instructors, your kids will be standing in no time. Due to the fact that we are only using surfboards, this group will be smaller, with a maximum of 7 students per session. Private sessions outside of holiday program can also be arranged with Bartleman Surf School.

Shore Angling Basics - Join us on a walk along the Hermanus Plaat while we look for a nice place to fish. We will go through the basics of angling, from knots, rigs, baiting and casting. Targeting small sharks, rays and perhaps Steenbras (if we are very lucky), we will do our best to get some fish on the beach, however, catching something is not a guarantee. All catches will be released back into the ocean. Fishing rods and bait will be included but adventurers are welcome to bring their own rods and reels if the have.
