As they grow up, young people face important decisions about relationships, sexuality, and sexual behaviour. The decisions they make can impact their health and well-being for the rest of their lives. Our little people have the right to lead healthy lives, and we, as their parents and care givers, have a responsibility to prepare them by providing them with comprehensive sexual education that gives them the information and tools they will need to make healthy decisions.

Are you feeling a little overwhelmed about how to have the sometimes-daunting discussions with your kids about sex? Are you a little unsure how to address topics such as safe touch, conception, masturbation, puberty, relationships and pleasure? Have you thought about how these conversations will align with your family’s values around sex and sexuality?

The Sex-Ed Hot Topics Workshop is a two-hour facilitated introductory workshop hosted in the comfort of a home in Durbanville where you can feel comfortable to talk about the things we should be thinking about in terms of these critical ongoing conversations we should be having with our kids. This workshop is aimed at parents of kids aged between 5 and 10 but please realise that all kids are different and mature at different rates so this will be very flexible and based around the parents in the room.

We will address questions like:

• What are my family’s values around sex and sexuality?
• What is safe touch and how can I encourage my child to hold their boundaries and respect the boundaries of others?
• How can I talk to my kid in an age appropriate way about the anatomy of gender and conception and sex?
• How can I speak to my kids about safer sex practices to protect them from sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancy?
• How can I encourage my children to grow up body positive in a way that will allow them to enjoy sex when they are mature enough for it?
• How can I support my child on their journey of discovery of their sexual pleasure?

• Keeping our body safe and healthy sexually
