MORE ABOUT TRANSKEI WORKERS OUTREACH
TWA is the oldest Kruiskerk mission and consists of 25 Stellenbosch students who annually travel to the Transkei. The outreach's main goal is to unite different culture groups with heart and soul by initiating a space where people can grow in themselves and in others. There is also a winter school where we go to the young learners of Canzibe and support them with Maths, Science and accounting. Friendships will be strengthened with the locals with sports activities such as soccer and netball clinics that we provide.
Our Goal:
Through hard physical work with the locals, the successful winter school as well as the sport clinics enjoyed in the breathtaking Transkei area, we aim to plant a seed in our team's hearts as well as the community we are dealing with to make what is experienced more than just a memory. Our goal is to turn this seed into a growing will to love your neighbor and your community.
Projects for 2019:
For 2019 we are planning to place our focus on skill training clinics. Skills are the vital driving force beside knowledge and innovation for social development and economic growth in any country of the world, especially in the Transkei where it is in fact at the core of improving people’s employment outcomes. We will be focusing our skills clinics on the youth as well as the older community.
We also want to create a space for the local residents where our team can learn from them. Activities such as knitting and bread making are on the menu as well as soccer clinics where our team can learn from the best. Our construction project for 2019 is to continue building a computer centre for a children's home in Coffee Bay. This center will be used by the children's home as well as local schools.
