The one day course consists of the following: 

Session 1 :

Presentation on all commonly abused drugs. Appearance, effects, side effects, method of abuse, geographic and demographics. Identification of a substance abuser.

Session 2:

PowerPoint Presentation in groups:

How to respond.

Where to find help.

Nation Drug Master Plan

Rehabilitation and aftercare.

Family involvement in the rehabilitation process.

The role of the church in the rehab process.

The role of the community in the alleviation of substance abuse.

Session 3:

Group work:

Identifying counselling needs

How to counsel.

Techniques for effective counselling. Case studies and group work.

Session 4:

Viewing of movie.

Each candidate will receive a pack that includes :

1 X Training manual including all information completed in the sessions.

1 X Drug manual with pictures and "all you need to know information”
