Join us as we explore Cape Town's thriving city farms, and historical sites through the intriguing lens food.

Cape Town's fascinating story of indigenous people, stormy voyages, the global slave trade, wild animals, wars and the discovery of gold is interwoven with the dramatic tales of farming and water.

On this exciting day out, we will:
  • Explores how the story of our past, present and future is interwoven with growing food
  • Trace the steps of the first settlers in Cape Town who started farming here to provide passing ships with fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Discover how the natural landscape determined settlement of the Khoi San and learn about indigenous plants that made up their diet
  • Learn about the urban agriculture movement, sustainable farming methods and permaculture
  • Identify indigenous edible plants and weeds along the way
  • Learn about the mountain rivers that still flow under the city
  • Experience sites steeped in the history of the Anglo-Boer war and the Gold Rush
Purchasing seedbombs with your ticket is optional, they have been carefully put together with love and include organic/ heirloom/ indigenous food seeds :)

We'll be starting at the bottom Government Avenue and take a journey back in time as we explore the city's rich history. After visiting our first two farms and launching our seedbombs, we'll arrive at Oranjezicht City Farm Market in time to tuck into scrumptious farm fresh local, natural and organic artisan food.

We can't wait to share Cape Town's incredible tales and naturally delicious secrets with you!
