Strung Together

Strung Together is a harp and cello duo doing FUN and BEAUTIFUL things with music. Join us for a concert featuring Jana van Der Walt on harp and Carol Joy Williams on cello. We have also teamed up with the fantastically talented illustrator, Maya Le Maitre and will be featuring some of her work during the concert...what could be better than a great creative collab?

Let us string you along with us (not in a dodgy way) as we explore music and sound. You can expect to hear some classical classics, sweeping cinematics and even some original music by Carol Joy Williams and Strung Together.

JANA VAN DER WALT is an accomplished musician and harpist based in Cape Town, South Africa. Her current involvement in the music community of the Mother City includes being an ad hoc member of the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, forming part of various ensembles with a number of acclaimed musicians, and performing on a regular basis as soloist at a range of different concerts, events and festivals. In 2013 Jana founded harpNOTED – a successful vehicle through which she pursues solo and ensemble performances. Apart from her involvement with the arts Jana is also an accomplished architect, having received her M.Arch Prof. cum laude in 2011 from the University of the Free State. She is currently a practicing architect at an award-winning firm in Cape Town.

CAROL JOY WILLIAMS is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, performer and composer based in Cape Town, South Africa. She studied cello at the University of Pretoria and has played in a number of orchestras, ensembles and contemporary bands, as well as working in theatre, improvised theatre and comedy. Carol has worked with many music legends and played with both local and international acts. A qualified music therapist (MMus, University of Pretoria, 2009) Carol loves combing story-telling and different genres of music - both composed and original in performance. She released her first instrumental album in 2016 called ‘from dust to heaven’s lights’ and is currently working on her second album. Carol is the co-founder of The Stellar Effect, a media production house focusing on individual and business story telling through workshops, podcast production and short film and also mentors on a small business incubator at the Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurial Development at UCT's Graduate School of Business.
