Jokes & Jazz VIII at UKZN Centre for Jazz

KZN's premier comedy and jazz series is back for its eighth edition which is also the finalé for 2018 at UKZN Centre for Jazz and Popular Music on August 28th!

Jokes & Jazz is a mash up of comedy and jazz all in one unforgettable experience open to the public as well as corporate entertainment. The series has featured local and international jazz musicians and comedians since its inception in 2017.

The regular audience is just as diverse for this exotic experience.

ON THE JAZZ

Pietermaritzburg trio Accoustiq Assassins will headline the jazz segment. The band caters for a cosmopolitan audience with their unique alternative sound best described as contemporary soul/indie R&B with songs in IsiZulu and English.

The group originally consisted of four members in Siphesihle ‘Tonick’ Bhengu, Siphiwe ‘Junior’ Mazibuko, Gugu ‘GU’ Mdladla and 2016 SA Idols winner Noma Khumalo whom has since left the band.

Accoustiq Assasins has appeared on notable stages from the National Arts Festival and Cape Town Fringe Festival and television SA’s Got Talent, Hectic 99, Idols SA.

ON THE JOKES

Comics Choice Award Nominated Kwanda Radebe headlines the comedy. He has fast established himself as a headline across South and has. His unique ability to tell jokes in multiple languages make him perfect fit to entertain the diverse audience.

The show will also feature new and upcoming comedians including Aruna Badal, Uyanda Maboea, Thulani Zulu and Thandeka Dlamini shall warm up the show with a poetry interlude.

Resident MC and international comedian Troy Tesla will host.

Centre for Jazz and Popular Music at Howard College is home to weekly jazz concerts every Wednesday featuring local and international acts.
