ABOUT

The Rockwell Dinner Theatre presents… NATALIA : I'm Back!

I'm Back Bitches! .... A musical journey of Cape Town born and raised Natalia Da Rocha, a Stellenbosch University drama graduate following her dream to be a performer, from the time she landed in Johannesburg on 2 January 1983.

The performer’s vibrant journey included: Attending auditions for television, radio and stage; Meeting her lifetime partner multi talented actor Kurt Egelhof; Singing the theme song and performing in Broer Matie a Jan's Rautenbach movie; auditioning for the Musical Royalty : Brickhill and Burke; Performing at No 58 a restaurant in Pretorius Str Hillbrow and being part of the birth of the phenomenal duo Coffee and Cream with Sam Marais, as well as being instrumental in changing the Cabaret genre in South Africa.

The birth of her daughter, Talia, in Sept 84 saw the baby travel with mom and dad, sometimes sleeping in a carry cot in the kitchen at 58 while mom was on stage; or being looked after by dad in the cabin while mom was performing in the main entertainment venue on a Cruiseliner! Natalia's star kept on rising when she was cast as one of the first South African performers of Colour with Sam Marais to be leads in a Sun City Extravaganza.

Coffee and Cream's performance of a Fats Waller medley inspired Geoffrey Sutherland from Napac to buy the performance rights of the Broadway hit “Ain't Misbehavin” for them. They performed the first season in Durban and a year later, after the birth of her 2nd baby Sascha, they had an extensive tour of Ain't Misbehavin, Wild Coast Sun, Cape Town and Johannesburg for Pieter Toerien Productions. Aston was born in 1994 and Natalia started a developmental project in Bosmont. The family relocated to Cape Town in early 2000 and created Applauz Arts Initiative, a registered NGO developing young talent and initiating platforms such as Wa Was Djy, Colours of My Life, Adam Small BeJazzed, with the support of Artscape to Showcase this new Talent.

SoloAfrika Festival of MonoDrama in its 2nd year is the newest initiative of Applauz Arts Initiative.

Natalia’s ‘I'm Back Bitches!’ is her return to centre stage after 20 years of training young singers and developing young talent.
