Charlette Dickson is on her way to making her childhood dream come true with the launch of her solo career at a benefit concert for Women of Hope Trust at the Centre for the Book, Queen Victoria Street, Cape Town on 13 October at 7pm.
This husky songstress hails from Athlone and started her singing career at the tender age of 10 years old. Breaking into this tough market didn't stop Charlette from following her passion. She shared stages with some of South Africa's jazz maestros where she performed at big festivals around the country. Charlette shares, "My life's journey has been a rollercoaster of adventures and valleys and my soul has now learned to speak it's truth".
Guests are in for a treat at the star-studded event on 13 October where Charlette will be performing in true style with the Little Giants Big Band. The Little Giants big band is longest running community music youth group in the Cape Town. Since 1999, it has assisted the development of more than 200 youth, many who have graduated into successful performers, in their own rights. Sisonke Xonti, Lwanda Gogwana, Shaun Johannes, Darren English to name a few. On 25th March, The Little Giants will be paying homage to many of their South African elders including Hugh Masekela, Chris McGregor, Johnny Dyani, Winston Mankunku, Robbie Jansen and co-founder Ezra Ngcukana
This soul sister is going to take you down memory lane and get your feet tapping with old time favourites by Aretha Franklin, Patti Le Belle, Toto and more.
Women of Hope Trust with their many well-deserved projects, this NPO provide support, food and shelter to homeless adults and kids in Cape Town, assist senior citizens and help disadvantage people find employment.
