Whether you are already an experienced freelancer or you are just about to embark on the journey of becoming your own boss, this event aims to introduce you to some of the most important aspects of running a freelance business.

Speakers:

Sonja Frank is going to talk about the most important things to remember about keeping your money matters, especially tax, above board.

• What entity do you 'freelance'? in; Your own name, CC, Company or Trust?
• What deductions can be claimed for tax purposes?
• When do you become liable to register for provisional tax?
• When do you become liable to register for VAT?
• Is your will in place and which estate taxes will be payable by your estate.

Sonja obtained a BA LLM (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University and was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court during August 1995. She was also admitted as a Master Tax Practitioner during August 2008. She also completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Law at the US (cum laude) and obtained an Advanced Diploma in Tax Procedural Law (with distinction) from the International Tax and Finance Institute. She provides legal and tax advice to clients and manages the Fiduciary Services division ofExceed.

Tiffany Markman is a corporate trainer and event presenter who speaks locally and internationally on writing, language, marketing, email, social media, customer service, small business, freelancing, and more.

Recently, she was a keynote speaker at the annual Public Relations summit hosted by Microsoft Middle East & Africa in Dubai, and at the IAB Digital Summit held in Kyalami, Joburg.

Over the years, Tiffany’s delivered lectures, spoken at conferences and presented training to the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), HeavyChefs, Suits & Sneakers, The Real Life MBA, many schools and universities, and a wide range of companies.

She’s also created over 20 writing and content-related training programmes, which she runs for corporate clients and small businesses.

Tiffany’s written copy for over 300 brands, including Investec Bank, Discovery Health, Hollard Insurance, Adcorp, BMW South Africa, Ocean Basket, and JacarandaFM. She specialises in company profiles, websites, digital media, radio and more.

She’s a regular BizCommunity columnist, a contributor to Mail&Guardian and Women24, and a writer for parenting website JoziKids and blog ZA Parents.
