The Drinkery

ABOUT

An intimate performance of only 25 people, in this unique art gallery with a twist and quirky bar, The Drinkery. One feels right at home and now a series of sessions has started, the next one is on the 15thof September, an instrumental performance of Wilken Calitz.

Musician and composer, Wilken Calitz always surprises people with his array of instruments: Acoustic guitar, electric guitar, violin, ukulele and harmonica - add his looping pedals and it is anything BUT a solo concert, it is truly something to experience.

He has composed music for a range of drama productions, 'Lament in G | 2009', 'Vaselinetjie | 2015', 'Drif | 2016' and he performed on a variety of internationally known movies, 'My Hunter's Heart | 2010', 'Skoonheid | 2012', 'Die Wonderwerker | 2012'. In 2017 he was nominated for a Fleur Du Cap for the soundtrack of 'Kristalvlakte'. He is part of the political, satirical band, named 'Die Skynmaagde'. (Nominated for 2 MK Awards, best new band and best Afrikaans band.) In 2017 he launched his first solo classical/contemporary for acoustic guitar & violin album, Chromatique'. (All original compositions) He also wrote the play, '2092: God van Klank' (2014)  nominated for 6 Fleur du cap Theatre Awards (including best new South African Script).
