Red Desert Nature Trail
Red Desert Nature Reserve is a proclaimed Nature Reserve in Banners Rest, Port Edward, KZN. It is the result of a Stewardship Program between the private Land Owners and KZN Ezemvelo WCS.

The Trail is 5 km's long and is classified as medium grade intensity level. It follows a circular Route that starts at Cascade Estate or can be accessed through the Off site parking in Maurice Rd, Banners Rest.. Sturdy shoes and carrying water bottles etc. are recommended and you may need the assistance of your walking stick if you usually need one for hiking.
Prices for entry are R30 per adult, R20 for Pensioners and R 10 for children under 12 years. Tickets have to be purchased prior to entry and may be requested for confirmation by Trustees and/or the Rangers. There is no ticket selling on the Reserve. By purchasing a ticket and entering the Reserve, you undertake to adhere to the Regulations that are displayed at both entrances and you indemnify the Trustees and all employees or representatives from any Claims of Liability whatsoever and all visitors enter and use the Trail at entirely their own risk.
No dogs allowed in the Reserve
Access for the Public is limited to the exact confines of the Trail as identified by the managed path or by the shortest distance between the trail markers (white tipped poles).
No fires or camping are allowed
Absolutely no removal of any plant material, artifacts or animal matter unless with the explicit written permission of the Trustees.
No vehicular access of any kind is allowed
No firearms or any other weapon or device that could be used for hunting.
