An exciting (and long overdue) all-day Cape Town festival featuring 11 live acts of various Alternative extractions is set to reverberate through Hillcrest Quarry on Sunday 26 August 2018.
Alternative music comes in many shades and incarnations, ignores convention and pretense, and delivers a pure music experience that is not repellent as some ill-informed may believe.

Since RAMfest called it quits, other events leaning more towards the overtly commercial side, or much heavier like the excellent Metal4Africa events, many not exactly as 'Rock' as they proclaim, a vacuum for a festival lay dormant where a wide range of Alternative styles (which doesn't lean too far to either side of these extremes) can let loose.
And here it is!
With the convergence of Dionysius Events, the Terminatryx 16th anniversary 'Duality Tour', and Polar Dust's 'Burning Water Tour', what was to be a regular show exploded into a full day festival with a never-seen-before collection of amazing acts on one stage.
And with the affiliation of Flamedrop's documentaries currently in production (looking at the SA Alternative music scene and its history), entitled ALTERnatives, the festival got its name! Straight, to the point, nothing cryptic.
This is the first of what is set to be an annual event, and is not to be missed.
A decade down the line, you'll want to say, "I was at the very first ALTERnatives music festival!"
See you there!
