ABOUT

Make and donate sandwiches – “Three minutes, Two hands, One sandwich”

Nelson Mandela International Day commemorates the lifetime of service Nelson Mandela gave to South Africa and the world.

Mandela Day calls on us all, every day, to make the world a better place. Each year on 18 July we look back on what has been done, and forward to what will be done.

Making every day a Mandela Day celebrates Madiba’s life and legacy in a sustainable way that will bring about enduring change.

“Three minutes, Two hands, One sandwich” is designed to engender collaboration with colleagues in the lecture halls, the workplace, on the sports fields and in areas where communities gather, and with two slices of bread and a filling at a time – make a simple but crucial survival tool … a sandwich.

Imagine how the kindness of a group of concerned volunteers harnessing their resources, time and energy – a world may change in a simple yet significant way and by so doing one person may experience the comfort of a full tummy.

Together with your people (we encourage you to bring your book club, church group, group of friends, company, or just you on your own), the Community Hours team of sociable activists and motivated volunteers create a vibrant working environment for ACTION, at the University of Johannesburg.

Community Hours has a team of highly energized volunteers who will engage with and show volunteers how to maximize the time allocated to create the image of Madiba – one wrapped sandwich at a time and in so doing impact in immeasurable ways to the hungry.

Our team will bring along all the material required to produce the “Three minutes, Two hands, One sandwich” sandwiches – to feed people in different communities.
