At Global Shapers, we are committed to breaking down the barriers that hamper the success of people in our communities. In response, we are developing a series of events called Business and Biscuits that will provide information, network opportunities, and mentorship for young people who are small and medium-sized business owners, or looking to set up an SME. Our first session, Entrepreneurship 101, will focus on business basics and building best practices.
We have identified a number of issues business owners face that could be avoided or mitigated against with greater sharing of knowledge and connections. We will use the Business and Biscuits series to spotlight these issues, drawing experts to speak about their experiences doing business in Uganda and beyond. The event will also feature an opportunity to pitch your business, with prizes for the winner.
The Global Shapers Community is a network of young people working together to address local, regional and global challenges. With more than 6,000 members, the Global Shapers Community spans 376 city-based hubs in 156 countries worldwide. Here in Uganda, the Kampala Hub is made up of over 25 members from diverse backgrounds who share a passion for community development and civic engagement.
