DESCRIPTION

Nestled in the Blaauwklippen valley between the foothills of the Helderberg and Stellenbosch mountain in the Blaauwklippen valley lies the love child of the de Villiers family, Kleinood.

The name, Kleinood, is a little-used Afrikaans word derived from Dutch and German meaning something small and precious. This is exactly what Kleinood means to them and precisely what it is – a small farm that is very dear to their hearts.

Before moving to the Boland, Gerard, Libby and their two children, Spicer and Katharien, lived in the Cape Town suburb, Tamboerskloof, for 20 years. Hence the name, Tamboerskloof, for the portfolio of, largely Shiraz based, boutique wines, all crafted from fruit grown on the estate. Not only their passion but also the terroir, the sun, and the rain led them to plant Shiraz, Mourvèdre, Rousanne and Viognier on North- and West facing slopes. From this delicate balance between science and passion the Tamboerskloof wines, now cultivated, nurtured, harvested, pressed, matured and bottled with equal care were born.

Kleinood boasts a world-class wine cellar, designed by Gerard de Villiers, surrounded by architecture based in the Cape Dutch vernacular. This beautiful family estate is deeply entrenched in family values, the constant battle for perfection and sincere passion for wine which reflects clearly in every bottle and glass of Tamboerskloof wine.

This event, with the opportunity to sample their wines presented by owner, Gerard de Villiers, paired with a sumptuous three-course dinner prepared by chef Daniël de Villiers in the beautiful environment of the iconic de Volkskombuis restaurant in Stellenbosch should definitely not be missed by lovers of good wine, fine cuisine, and great ambiance.
