ABOUT

WHAT a time to be alive as a Leader in the business sector!

We are at the forefront of a new era, with glass ceilings being shattered around us and for us. How are we building leadership practices that are inclusive, that incorporate a feminine mark without negating tried and tested leadership methodologies.

There is no past that can has been written to forge the future of leadership in the current form. Come and listen to two inspiring talkers who will unpack their stories and give practicle advice on how you could build your own leadership practice in this new era of the rise of feminine leader.

First Speaker: Sarah Rice

“Sarah is a communications strategist with over 20 years of experience in working with technology companies and helping them get their message heard." It then goes on to list the many wonderful companies she has worked with. Its a great bio but it doesn’t help you understand why she cares so much about leadership, women and why she believes we need to to get so brutally realistic about what we face as entrepreneurs so here is a bit of that story. Sarah has run two companies. Both did excellent work and both, for reasons of leadership, didn’t make it. As a consultant, she has worked with many businesses and watched them succeed and fail - some deservingly and others through sheer luck (good and bad.) She has two kids and an ex-husband. Basically, at 44 she has done a lot of living, failing, feeling therapy and Brene Brown audiobooks. She cares about women and thinks about what it takes to be a woman in business in South Africa right now. This talk will be some of her thoughts, lessons and experiments on what women leaders in 2018 can look and sound like.

Second Speaker: Zimkhita Buwa - Chief Operating Officer at Brighthouse
Zimkhita is a visionary leader and is currently the Chief Operations Officer at Britehouse, a Division of Dimension Data. Britehouse provides industry leading Digital solutions in the areas of SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, Automotive, Advanced Analytics and Mobility.

It was through the Techwomen Programme that she adopted an attitude of “Lift others and you will rise” and she believes in the power of giving back. In 2016, she was recognized for her professional and community achievements as an Outstanding Women at the MTN Women in ICT Awards.

She serves as a volunteer board member and director at Siliconcape, an organisation that promotes technology entrepreneurship in the Western Cape. She was recently appointed to the Advisory Board of Girlhype, a non-profit that empowers and exposes young girls from underserviced communities to the power of coding. Through her passion for Women Empowerment she founded Techpearls, a global platform that provides valuable opportunities for Women in STEM.

She is a wife and a mom to an eight year old boy. Buwa graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Technology (Hons) majoring in Information Systems from the Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia.
Join us for an evening of inspiration and networking with like-minded female entrepreneurs & intrapreneurs.
