ABOUT

Roedean School (SA) presents the school production for 2018, a fresh and exciting blend of song, physical theatre and superb performances. Margaret Atwood's The Penelopiad draws on the ancient tale of Homer’s Odyssey, but forefronts the character of his wife, Penelope, and her twelve maids whom Odysseus had hanged on his return from Troy. This feminist retelling of the classic asks us to consider whose voices are heard and whose silenced; as Atwood said of Penelope, "she doesn't care about social convention, she's going to tell her own story".

Seating at the event is of an informal nature; you are encouraged to bring along a cushion to sit on.

Please note that this play contains themes of a mature nature and is appropriate for viewers over the age of 13. Parental guidance is advised.
