JITTERY CITIZENS Improv Masterclass 101

After graduating Lisa moved back to Johannesburg to start teaching at the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy. After 3 years of teaching young artists, it was a natural move for Lisa to venture into the television and film industry in 2009, as a talent booker at Take 10, a Johannesburg based children’s casting agency. It wasn’t long before Lisa found herself on television and film sets, freelancing in various positions, for various Johannesburg and Cape Town based production companies. Lisa’s 8 years of experience in television production includes a full time position as head casting assistant to Bonnie Lee Bouman, one of SA’s top casting directors, where she remained for nearly 2 years.

Despite the physical nature and time constraints of working in the industry, Lisa has always managed to find time for her passion for performance and arts education. In 2008 she discovered her love for improvisation when she joined weekly classes with Causing a Scene. Soon after, she joined the performing company, Jittery Citizens, and has been performing, training and facilitating workshops with them ever since. Some of her additional theatre credits include Property of Wonderboy, Late Night Radio and Alchemy of the Heart, all of which premiered at the National Arts Festival as well as Babe the Sheep Pig, for the Peoples Theatre and more recently Acceptance at the Joburg Theatre.

Today, Lisa focuses on her role as an arts educator, facilitating workshops in improvisation, physical theatre, storytelling and theatre making, for both Jittery Citizens and Zikka Zimba, at schools and companies across Johannesburg.
