Back by popular demand...

Lets get together and craft our own mosquito repellent oil candles from old glass bottles. I love this very easy, very satisfying, economical, ergonomical & practical DIY craft. I've made a few myself. We use these regularly. Our Airbnb guests love them & they make great gifts.

They are cheaper, more beautiful, safer and less messy than wax candles. They just seem to burn forever and make the perfect gift. It is comforting to have them around, especially when considering Eskom's unreliability and you can literally customize them anyway you want.

Apart from the outside of the lamp, which you can obviously do-up in whatever fashion you like, using photos, paint, string, stickers or whatever else you like, you can also customize the scent they release when burning by adding stuff to the oil.

Adding orange peels to the oil, for example, preserves the orange peels, and when the candle burns it gives off a citrus fragrance. Same goes for cinnamon sticks and about everything else you can think of. If you love your essential oils you can add some of this as well/ only. I use my lamps instead of my incense burner when I have sinus, for example. I add eucalyptus to the oil and whenever I light the candle the eucalyptus scent is released.

I have all the supplies we need to make our own oil lamps, including mosquito repellent lamp oil :). If you have your own glass bottle that you really like - bring it with. If you have your own decor stuff that you want to use on it (like photos, etc.) - bring those with. If you don't have those stuff - don't bother. I have enough for all of us :).
